I’ve been in my hometown since the end of April and I’m ready to go back to the U.P.; it seems like the longer I’m home the more dramatic things get. I wish I worked more hours at the bank-26 hours a week does not allow me to save much money which also means that I cannot spend much money.
So far this summer I have….
-Taken Bela on a bunch of walks
-Made cookies a million times
-Went to Lansing for training (at least I was able to be a business woman for a week)
-Went to Taquemenon Falls, walked six miles while there and came home with over 50 mosquito bites although I used spray
-Went to Whitefish Point and found some beautiful rocks in Lake Superior
-Became quite fond of gin and tonics
-Read a book that influenced my career decisions
-Traded in my cruiser and got a hybrid bicycle
There are still so many things I want to do while I’m home and I hope I have time to do it all before August 27 comes, and I believe the time will fly!
I’ve been rethinking my decision of taking a couple of years off before going to grad school; renting a place here is not looking so appealing right now. There’s too much going on that I don’t want to be involved in. I don’t understand how some people work, especially family.
I’m looking forward to my senior year and starting my senior project! I really need to start looking at research to find a solid thesis. I have a feeling that April 2012 will be here before I know it so I should try to enjoy my last year in the U.P. and actually explore it. I’ve lived in there for 2 years and haven’t done much of anything and I regret it; my goal is to see everything I want to see in the U.P. before I graduate.
I spent my day off today shopping- I found a great dress at Old Navy for 8.00 that was originally 30! I also went to Goodwill and found Cat Stevens- Tea for Tillerman on vinyl, Angus on VHS, a great black skirt, and brand new navy blue suede Target wedges that I was eyeballing forever for FOUR Dollars, amazing.
I also have tomorrow off and it’s supposed to be nice so I think I’ll take Bela for a nice, long walk and make some lemon blueberry cheesecake bars.
I think I rambled enough for now; time to read!
