So it’s been awhile…

I’ve been in my hometown since the end of April and I’m ready to go back to the U.P.; it seems like the longer I’m home the more dramatic things get. I wish I worked more hours at the bank-26 hours a week does not allow me to save much money which also means that I cannot spend much money.

So far this summer I have….

-Taken Bela on a bunch of walks

-Made cookies a million times

-Went to Lansing for training (at least I was able to be a business woman for a week)

-Went to Taquemenon Falls, walked six miles while there and came home with over 50 mosquito bites although I used spray

-Went to Whitefish Point and found some beautiful rocks in Lake Superior

-Became quite fond of gin and tonics

-Read a book that influenced my career decisions

-Traded in my cruiser and got a hybrid bicycle

There are still so many things I want to do while I’m home and I hope I have time to do it all before August 27 comes, and I believe the time will fly!

I’ve been rethinking my decision of taking a couple of years off before going to grad school; renting a place here is not looking so appealing right now. There’s too much going on that I don’t want to be involved in. I don’t understand how some people work, especially family.

I’m looking forward to my senior year and starting my senior project! I really need to start looking at research to find a solid thesis. I have a feeling that April 2012 will be here before I know it so I should try to enjoy my last year in the U.P. and actually explore it. I’ve lived in there for 2 years and haven’t done much of anything and I regret it; my goal is to see everything I want to see in the U.P. before I graduate.

I spent my day off today shopping- I found a great dress at Old Navy for 8.00 that was originally 30! I also went to Goodwill and found Cat Stevens- Tea for Tillerman on vinyl, Angus on VHS, a great black skirt, and brand new navy blue suede Target wedges that I was eyeballing forever for FOUR Dollars, amazing.

I also have tomorrow off and it’s supposed to be nice so I think I’ll take Bela for a nice, long walk and make some lemon blueberry cheesecake bars.

I think I rambled enough for now; time to read!

Curse you, dryer.

The dryer finally bit the dust- right after I put a load of wet towels in. The towels are currently air drying wherever I could find somewhere to hang them in the house. There’s no point in putting any money into the dryer considering it was free and is already pretty junky. I’ll be going to the laundromat tomorrow and am hoping to get some schoolwork done while waiting. I’ve never had to use the laundromat before; I guess I’ll take everything that I’ve been planning to wash since I uh, can’t frickin’ do anything at home. I sure hope they have wi-fi and comfy chairs.

I need to get out of the funk that I’ve been in; it’s getting really annoying. I need a vacation.

I can’t believe I’m still sick; all I want to do is go outside and ride my bicycle! This week seems like it’s going to be pretty hectic thanks to an exam, a presentation, participating in five studies, and a ridiculous professor who expects students to have all the time in the world to sit in court. I know I have more to do but I can’t/don’t want to think about it right now. I’m ready to move back home for the summer and be in a town that I enjoy and hopefully have a job that I will enjoy.

I cleaned out my closet the other night and holy crap I have a lot of clothes. I had clothes from junior high that were so ratty, I would have kept some of them if they were still wearable. I’m hoping to add some new items to my closet sometime soon. I have a hard time getting rid of clothes and I’m surprised I got rid of two huge boxes. I know I should get rid of more but I can’t bring myself to do it; maybe next year.

Our dryer is broken, we got it for free when we first moved up here so I can’t complain much. The other day it took almost FOUR HOURS to dry a load of towels. The dryer fairy should come visit, because I’m going to have a really hard time living without a dryer and am not looking forward to the next electric bill.

I made chocolate chip cookies last night and they turned out well. Jon doesn’t like brownies that much and I’ve been wanting brownies but I can’t eat a whole pan of frickin’ brownies (actually, I probably could). Jon made a loaf of oatmeal bread and it is beautiful and delicious. Instead of studying for my cog exam I’ve been planning dinners for this week. I’m an old woman in the sense that I love grocery shopping and making lists and planning.

I’m planning to make:

Chicken sausage, spinach, mushroom roasted red pepper alfredo lasagna (sounds weird, but good)

Chicken pot pie

Chicken enchiladas

I should probably go study, considering that my exam is tomorrow and I haven’t really studied much.

What a lovely day.

It’s been so nice out the past couple days! And the fact that I’m feeling better is also nice! I’m looking forward to taking Bela for walks without gasping for air. I can’t wait until I’m completely well; this sickness has lasted for way too long. Right before I got sick I started exercising and haven’t been able to in over a week, so I’m hoping to get some exercise tomorrow (even if it may be a short walk).

I’m also looking forward to cooking and baking more! Tomorrow for dinner I’m going to make breakfast burritos with roasted red potatoes. We really need to start eating at home more; we aren’t terrible cooks, we’re just lazy. Homemade pizza and chili with cornbread will also be made, mmm. I’m also going to make an orange cinnamon vanilla bean pound cake which I’m sure will be delicious.

The Nikon camera I ordered came in the mail today so I’ll start posting pictures soon!

Sick girl.

First my pets were sick at different times, and now I’m miserably sick. I haven’t been this sick in a long time, and upper respiratory infections are the worst. I have a ton of assignments/presentations to do in the next couple weeks and haven’t started any of them. Sitting in a court room to listen to cases will not be fun when my cough sounds nasty, I’m sure no one wants to hear my nasty cough. I’m ready for the semester to be over, and summer to start!

Due to feeling like death I haven’t cooked, and am looking forward to cooking once I feel better which better happen pretty damn fast!

Ouch my brain!

I feel really lazy lately, must do these things by tomorrow morning before I head home for the weekend:

Finish CogLab 2

Find at least four references for research paper

Print out Physio, Cognitive, and articles for write-ups

Read for procedural law

Work out

Do laundry

Clean litter box (ugh)

At least I only have one class today, that should help me get this stuff done. Lately I’ve been thinking about putting grad school on hold, which at this point seems like a good idea to me. I’m not exactly sure that I want to be a therapist anymore, and instead of paying for two years of grad school to figure this out I’d like to find some sort of work that is similar so I can find out if it’s what I really want. If it isn’t what I want, I feel like I wasted four years on a degree that is pretty much useless unless I go to grad school. The good thing is, I could go to grad school for other things, not just psychology or social work. I’ve been freaking out about school lately, although I still have a year left after this semester.

I really need to start exercising, I think my laziness stems from not doing anything. It’s so cold out lately, I’d take the dog for a walk or go snowshoeing if it wasn’t in the single digits here. So I’ll resort to my balance ball and yoga for now; it’s not much but it’s definitely a start. My stuff from JCrew is coming today, yahoo! I ordered some stuff while they were having the awesome sale and really looking forward to having some new clothes.

Really?

After a few days of looking at JCrew.Com I finally decided to order some items, and while I was checking out the cardigan I wanted was sold out. I guess that was a sign that I’m not meant to have a nutmeg colored cardigan. Shoot. I really need some new clothes but I have such a hard time buying things that by the time I’m actually going to do it nothing is available. Living in a small town comes with one con: no clothing stores. Well, there’s a JCPenney and a Maurices but I won’t find anything there so online shopping it is! If there was a Target, Urban Outfitters, and an H&M (that will NEVER happen) here I’d be a happy lady.

I never used to like Diet Coke but now I drink at least one everyday, this is probably a bad thing. I made oatmeal raisin cookies last night, and made sun-dried tomato cream cheese the day before that. I’m thinking about eating less meat; I don’t eat a ton of meat, but sometimes I feel gross after eating it and I really, really, REALLY hate touching raw meat. After the subpar pot roast I made the other night I want to take a break from cooking meat because well…I’m not that great at it.

As far as classes go, I probably should be reading for my courses but since it’s the first week of the semester I don’t have much to do. I do need to start thinking about a topic for a research paper which may be a task since I don’t like doing papers on a well-known topic.
